ALCAR

A SUCCESS STORY

In 2024, the ALCAR Group celebrated its 40th anniversary. Founded in early summer 1984 as “BBV Beteiligungsgesellschaft m.b.H.” in Austria, the company has evolved into a Europe-wide corporation that encompasses not only the distribution but also the production of high-quality wheels.

Here is a look back at the remarkable journey of this company.

1988

Acquisition of the activities of KROMAG AG and their integration into the newly established KROMAG Metallindustrie GmbH (today: ALCAR Wheels GmbH);
Expansion of activities to include the manufacture and distribution of steel cabinets

1988-1994

Establishment of a distribution network across Europe: takeover of distribution partners in the passenger car market in Austria, Sweden and Hungary

1995

Acquisition of alloy wheel brand AEZ; establishment of the German ALCAR distribution company; acquistion of wheel activities of Switzerland's E. Ambrosetti & Söhne AG and its integration into the newly founded Ambrosetti Räder AG (today: ALCAR Ruote SA)

1997-1999

Expansion of distribution network to the Dutch, Belgian and Danish, as well as the Czech and Polish markets

2002

Purchase of a 50 % sake in the alloy wheel manufacturer Schmidt (now: ALCAR Leichtmetallräder Produktion GmbH); 100 % acquisition of the alloy wheel brand DEZENT

2003

Entrance of holding company and national distribution companies onto the market under the jount name ALCAR

2004

Expansion of distribution network to include the Italian market

2005

Opening of the ALCAR Leichtmetallräder Produktion GmbH's new alloy wheels production site in Neuenrade (Germany)

2006

Acquisition of an additional 50 % stake in the ALCAR Leichtmetallräder Produktion GmbH

2011

Acquisition of a 49 % stake in the ALCAR Wheelbase Romania s.r.l. in Romania an d a49.9 % stake in RC Sport ALCAR France S.a.r.l.

2014

Completion and inauguration of the new, fully automated high-bay warehouse in Balve (Germany) with a total warehousing capacitiy of more than 550,000 wheels; Incorporation of the new product groups TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring Systems), fitted units, wheel caps and engine oil
